Our customer brought in a Stealth Gray Tesla Model X Long Range for subtle changes that would make a big difference in daily driving. Think school drop off, mall parking, weekend coffee runs, and long family road trips. The Tesla Model X Long Range is a serious machine with a curb weight of approximately 5,148 pounds, so smart upgrades that improve stance, response, and braking confidence pay off every time you drive.
Lower, Cleaner, Still Daily Friendly
We started with UP Sports Dynamic Air Suspension Lowering Kit for 2021 and newer Tesla Model X. Each factory height setting moves down one step so you get the look and aero benefit of a lower ride without losing day to day usability or the intuitive factory behavior. Because it works with Tesla air suspension logic, comfort and predictability remain intact. We have refined this strategy over hundreds of Tesla builds and validated it on everything from daily commuters to our Pikes Peak winning program. The result on this Tesla Model X is a cleaner stance, less aero drag on the highway, and a feel that is both composed and relaxed.
Brakes That Match The Mass
A large electric SUV asks a lot from its brakes. With curb weight in the low to mid five thousand pound range (around 2,373 kg) depending on trim, shedding rotating weight is one of the most effective ways to improve response and stop with confidence. For this build we installed our Big Sweep Carbon Ceramic Front Rotor and Pad Kit that drops more than thirty three pounds of unsprung rotational mass at the front axle. Each rotor weighs only 12.9 pounds (5.85 kg) and uses a larger friction sweep paired with an oversized performance pad to extract maximum stopping force from the standard caliper. Pedal feel is clean and repeatable around town. Heat management improves on long downhill grades. Acceleration feels a touch snappier because the drivetrain has less rotating mass to spin. Add the optional Superlight rear rotor and pad kit and total rotational savings climb past fifty nine pounds, which you notice every time you roll away from a stop.
Wheels With Real Purpose
Next came UP Forged UP-03 wheels. Forged 6061 T6 construction keeps weight down and strength up, which is exactly what a heavy performance SUV needs. The I beam spoke design resists flex under load and the knurled barrel improves tire grip under hard acceleration. Reduced wheel weight lowers unsprung mass and rotational inertia, which sharpens steering response and helps the suspension do its job over broken pavement. The visual effect matters too. In Stealth Grey, the UP 03 design lines give the Model X presence and talk about a great finish with the Satin Bronze! Park it at the curb and you will look back as you walk away. We know we would…
Superlight Titanium Lug Nuts: Small Part, Big Gains
We went all in on reducing unsprung weight and that included the hardware that holds the wheels on. Our UP Superlight Titanium Lug Nut Set trims mass right where it matters, which helps steering feel, acceleration, and braking response. Unsprung weight is everything the suspension does not support, like wheels, rotors, tires, hubs, and lug nuts. Cutting weight here lets the suspension react faster and helps transfer motor power to the pavement more efficiently.
But…How Does This All Work Together?
Well, lower ride height settles the body and trims aero drag at speed. Lighter carbon ceramic rotors reduce the effort required to spin up and slow down the wheels and they deliver consistent braking feel on busy family days that include school traffic, errands, and fastlane on ramps. Strong forged wheels carry the load with confidence while able to take any hit (just ask Randy Pobst). Together the package makes the Tesla Model X feel lighter on its feet without changing its core character. It still rides with that relaxed luxury feel due to its air suspension, only now the response and confidence meet the way you actually use the vehicle.
The Use Case That Matters
The owner wanted a Model X that looks right everywhere life takes it. It needed to look sharp in the school lane, clean up a mall parking lot, and feel special at a coffee stop. It also needed to be ready for a weekend run into the hills or a family road trip. This build delivers just that. The stance is just right. The wheels read premium and purposeful. The brakes give you confidence when the vehicle is full of people and gear. Most of all, the overall package feels intentional.
