When the team at Unplugged Performance heard about Tesla’s new Hollywood hotspot, we couldn’t resist gearing up for a lunch adventure. The Tesla Diner, located at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, finally welcomed its first guests on July 21, 2025 (teasing Elon Musk’s vision since 2018 of “Grease meets Jetsons with Supercharging”).

From Concept to Reality

The concept originated in 2018 and, after overcoming permit hurdles and relocating from its originally planned site in Santa Monica, found its home on the historic Route 66 in Hollywood. Designed by architecture firm Stantec, this stainless‑steel, flying‑saucer–like diner includes 24‑hour dining (for Tesla customers) across a two‑story space, drive‑in‑style seating, movie screens, and Superchargers.

It features 75 to 80 V4 Supercharger stalls, giving Tesla owners a high-speed charging experience enhanced with longer cables, better cable management, support for non‑Tesla vehicles (due to having NACS ports), and integrated payment terminals. These V4 units can deliver up to 325 kW now, with the capacity to support up to 1.2 MW in future cabinet upgrades.

Amenities: Food, Film & Futurism

The diner has two massive 66‑foot outdoor LED screens project movies and vintage-style content, and the upper-level “Skypad” offers outdoor dining with great views. Themed touches are everywhere: when ordering, your food can arrive in animated Cybertruck themed boxes, Optimus is on display complete and also internally, plus you can view a few things like the infamous Cybertruck window scattering when the steel ball was thrown during its unveiling event. As for merchandise? Neon signs, apparel, Cybertruck toys, water bottles, and pins are on sale.

Our Unplugged Performance Lunch Adventure

One sunny afternoon, our team—Luke, Moto, Skyler, and Bryan—rolled out from our HQ in Hawthorne, California, en route to Hollywood. Cruising into the Tesla Diner’s lot, we were greeted by welcoming staff who told us to park at any open charging spot. Lucky for us, two prime spots right in front of the diner were open. Talk about perfect timing!

Inside, we scoped the menu and ordered easily via the kiosk to the left of the entrance. We’d also seen you can also order ahead if you’re charging, so your food awaits you when you pull in.

Here’s what our crew ordered:

  • Luke: Chicken & waffles with fries (especially great when sampling all three of the diner’s signature sauces).
  • Bryan: Tuna melt—with a lemon zest and dill season twist that really popped.
  • Moto: The Tesla Burger (a smash burger so good you’d want seconds).
  • Skyler: Bowl of chili topped with cheese.
  • Drinks: Nitro matcha (neutral but with a caffeine kick) and a crowd‑favorite root beer float—so good we’d reorder for sure.

After lunch, we explored the buzzing diner, people watched as guests snapped photos, families lounging, kids staring all over the place in awe. Optimus on display drew plenty of attention. To go upstairs, you’re taken to an almost Alice in Wonderland-like set of stairs that spiral towards the top and eventually take you to the top floor of the diner. On the roof, there is ample amounts of seating that you can choose from with views of the large screens to enjoy your meal break in while your car charges.

We then mingled with the crowd, handing out Unplugged Performance stickers and merch while chatting about our rides: the 2026 Tesla Model Y Juniper sporting the world’s first indestructible UP‑RW (Road Warrior) wheels, and our UP INVINCIBLE Cybertruck outfitted with steel bumpersrock slidersroof railsMOLLE racks, and massive 24″ UP Forged CYBRSPOKE wheels.

Why the Tesla Diner Stands Out

  • Seamless experience: Eat, charge, and be entertained—all in one location.
  • V4 Superchargers: Fast, flexible, and future‑ready with high power output and better cables that extend far enough for you to charge non teslas.
  • Social vibe: Perfect for meetups, fleet cruising, or hosting Unplugged Performance events.

Our final verdict? The Tesla Diner left us full, charged up, and buzzing with ideas for future events. It’s the perfect place to connect, recharge, and enjoy.
